What Will Be The Hair Trends For 2014?
With a new year it’s a new start and that also applies to new hairstyles. From celebrity styles to catwalk inspirational creations, 2013 really did show us what would be trending in 2014.
We’ve picked the top 5 hairstyles of 2013 that we think will be some of the more popular looks in 2014.
1)The Peasant Girl Braid
This braid is simple and chic and has been seen many times on the catwalk in 2013. The hair is messily tied back and braided with loose tendrils around the face. The look is simple and you could also say a romantic style.
There are many variations to this look, including the ponytail being tied around the head. Similar to the look of maid Marion in Robin Hood.
2) The Low Ponytail
In 2013, we saw many celebrities walk down the red carpet with this timeless look. The low ponytail is definitely making a comeback and we definitely believe that we will be seeing this through into 2014. Why? That is because you can do so much with this style.
You can part your hair on the left or the right and have it side swept. You can have a sleek middle parting with a wrap around ponytail for added length. You could also back comb your hair to give it added volume and then style the hair in the low parting. Another option is to add barrettes to give you the catwalk look with a sleek ponytail.
The options are actually limitless.
3) Flowers In The Hair
This used to be associated with the “hippy” movement back in the 1960’s but has now seen a return on catwalk all over the world. We think the flowers in the hair will be very popular at the festivals this year as well with the bridal industry as it looks romantics and carefree and can only make you smile.
4) The Page Boy Wig in a Choppy Style
You may be surprised that wigs are widely used in photo-shoots, on the catwalk and also worn by celebrities, if they need a quick change of hairstyle.
With that in mind it comes as no surprise that hairdressers are using them for their catwalk creations. They are versatile and can be cut and sometimes dyed into whatever style you want. This means that the model’s own hair is left alone and does not have to go through the trauma of having their hair cut coloured, bleached or have hair extensions fitted into their own hair. We’ve seen the results of this with Naomi Campbell and her damaged hair.
Wigs from Afuro are set to be an ongoing trend in 2014
5) Long and Straight
This hairstyle has been a classic for many years and seems to be, if judging from the amount of times it’s been seen on the catwalk, to be back with a bang.
The long and straight hairstyle is simple, elegant and highlights your face. The spin on this contemporary hairstyle is that you can have wispy tendrils to surround the face.
